Welcome back Miss Moo-Hoo!

I’ve been looking for a new character to join the Hugless Douglas cast and, after a few wrong turns, it occurred to me to revisit someone who just fits the bill; Miss Moo-Hoo. She was the perfect teacher in the picture book Two by Two and a half…so why not again?

Here she is, the original colour sample I did back in 2007, alongside today’s pencil sketch. It’s nice to be reacquainted. I’m sure she’ll do a fine job in her new post. Time will tell…and in a few weeks, so will this blog…

Fallen Leaves

If you get a chance to drop into the impressive Dean Clough Galleries, Halifax, you’re in for a treat; I’m very proud to have been invited to take part in this exhibition by my good friend and fellow illustrator Chris Mould who has curated this event. If you can’t make it then at least check out these illustrators work online – they all have a presence and are definitely worth a look. And a big thank you to Chris, whose work you must look at nowhere!

Shaping up for INTERNATIONAL HUG DAY next Tuesday 21st January. (Yes, it really does exist). Here’s one of the images Hodder are producing…all part of the social media onslaught coming your way, real soon! If you sit tight, hold your breath, you can juuuust about here the rumbling…brace yourselves…

And if that isn’t enough Hugless Douglas for you, he will be one of the World Book Day titles this year. Here I am, doodling for the camera this week, as part of a compilation film of all the WBD authors. We each discuss the thoughts and working methods behind our books.

The final edit will go up on the WBD website in the coming weeks. Watch out for news of competitions, and events as WBD, 6th March comes marching onto view. More WBD news soon.

Actually, talking of prizes, you can enter a draw to win a large Hugless Douglas plush when you do this Accelerated Reading Quiz from Renaissance Learning.

Lots more news coming very soon…
