World Book Day 2012 with Hugless Douglas!

It’s been a busy few days. A lot of new Hugless Douglas a/w on the drawing board right now. But, I had time out yesterday to be part of an amazing event at SouthBank as part of World Book Day 2012.

I shared the stage with some incredible illustrators drawing live as part of the online stream event that, apparently, was broadcast live to 22 countries, 5 continents and 700,000 children around the UK. If you click on the link here: Nursery Event you can see the half hour slot I was involved in. You can see me drawing Hugless Douglas around 17 mins in but do please what it all!

We only had a few minutes to a do quick sketch of a character. This is a practise scribble I did the night before. (Yes, I practised).

It’s the first full day I’ve been out since the knee-twisitng incident with my sofa. I’ll not lie, it’s a bit achy today. So I shall sit and paint and try not to fall over…

Here’s a sneak preview of work-in-progress for the new title Hugless Douglas and the Big Sleepover which is published next month. More soon.

I actually did this last year before the accident so don’t start thinking all my a/w will now include tumbling characters…

Oh no, I’ve been falling over regularly for years. It’s a gift.
